Prompt: Describe a time that you had an encounter with a homeless person, either directly or indirectly. What did you think and how did it make you feel?

Prompt Response: One specific time i had an encounter with a homeless person was in a marta station with my mom. We had just come back from a basketball game, and were waiting for the train, then we heard something. It was a homeless man yellling and laughing as he got closer to us. He was yelling at people and joking around with them, despite him being loud, and probably on drugs I thought is was more funnny then scary.

Prompt: The last scene forces readers to reinterpret Emily’s entire life. Write about a moment when new information changed your perception of a person or situation. How did that “plot twist” reshape your understanding, the same way Faulkner’s ending reshapes the story?

Prompt Response: A situation in my life that changed my whole understanding of situation like the story happened when I was in elementary school. We had a really sweet dog that never bothered anyone, but was a little skidish because of her previous owner. After about a year we got rid of the dog, and I was very shocked because I didn't see a problem with her. But from this descision i figured out that she would be better with a owner who payed more attention to her because she would tend to run away. Summary: We took a pop quiz on the story A Rose for Emily, and watched the movie about it.

Words shape how we think, write, and interpret literature. Think about a time when learning a new word or understanding a specific term helped you better analyze a text, express an idea, or make your writing stronger.

Prompt Response: Throughout the last few weeks in this course we've read many Robert Frost poems that have had new vocabulary for me. While reading through these peoms and analyzing the new words that I've learned they've greaty impacted my writing. I've taken more time ot think about how I can improve my vocabulary by using more intricate terms. The complex vocabulary in the Story the rockpile also helped me understand the situations better with use of powerful words. Summary: I worked on finishing and turning in my one pager assignment.

Prompt: Both poems by Robert Frost explore the passage of time and life’s changing moments. Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”?

Prompt Response: There have been many instances where a quick change if my life has heavliy impacted me. But by far what stands out the most is when my parents got a divorce. When I was younger I never thought of this as a possibility, but I soon came to see that it would happen much quicker than I expected. This connects to the idea displayed in Robert Frosts poem because at the time I thought my childhood would be perfect and normal, but overtime I realized that I would encounter many hardships and things won't stay how I picture them.

Reflect on a time when you paused to appreciate the beauty of nature, much like the speaker in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

Prompt Response: Much like the speaker in Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, I to pause sometimes when I'm mesmerized by the buety of nature. One particluar time was when I was in a small town in England with my mom and sister. We went on a very long hike through the mountains near the little town. We came across a massive cave in the side of a mounatin that overlloked a pasture with lots of sheep. We all stood there to take in the nature, this stillness showed me that sometime you should stop and look at nature because it is a key part of life. The stillness in this situation also made me feel a sense of calmness. Summmary: We read and annotated the poem Stopping by Woods on a Snowing Evening as a class.

In “Birches,” Robert Frost celebrates imagination as a way to escape life’s difficulties and reconnect with innocence. The speaker wishes to “get away from earth awhile” but also understands that he must eventually return to reality. Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, bored om, or stress?

Prompt Respose: I use my imagination in many ways to help cure my boredom and stress, like Robert Frost. Sometimes when I'm really bored, and sitting in my room alone, I use my imagination to formulate ideas of what I can do to pass the time. This has been very helpful for me because it increases my productivity while I'm not doing anything. I also use my imagination to help with stress by thinking of things that will take my mind off of things for a while.

Thinking about “The Rockpile,” which parent or guardian in your life has been the strictest when it comes to discipline? Explain how their approach to discipline has influenced you or shaped your behavior.

Prompt response: The strictest parent I had when it comes to disicpline was by far my dad. My dads approach to discipline was very stern, and had a somewhat good affect on my life. Even though as a kid I might not of liked how he disciplined me, I can see how it taught me not to do some bad things. I think overall it affected by behavior possitivly. Summary: Working on the power point on the story the rock pile with our groups. Reflection: I learned the meaning of words I didn't know in the rockpile, while working on the group powerpoint.
